Fremont, California--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Solaria Corporation, a global supplier of advanced solar products headquartered in the United States, announced today that the company has won an important award from the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC). The ruling states that the company is committed to preventing Canadian Solar (CSIQ) from infringing on Solaria's two breakthrough US patents. These two patents cover shingled solar modules and the process of separating photovoltaic (PV) tapes from solar cells for shingled solar modules. Solaria's shingled solar module technology provides higher power than traditional solar modules.

The judge assigned by ITC to supervise Solaria’s litigation against Canadian Solar issued a preliminary ruling that determined that Chinese solar panel manufacturer Canadian Solar violated the revised 1930 Tariff Law when importing shingled solar modules. Article 337. The judge's ruling found:

The judge’s preliminary ruling clearly indicated that Canadian Solar had used Solaria’s innovations and technologies without permission and violated the US patent law. In this ruling, the judge rejected Canadian Solar's claim that the patent was invalid and non-infringing.

Solaria believes that ITC will issue an exclusion order to prevent Canadian Solar from importing and selling shingled modules in the United States

"Solaria holds more than 250 patents and has invested more than $200 million in the development of our advanced solar panel technology," said Solaria CEO Tony Alvarez (Tony Alvarez). “Solaria is willing to cooperate with companies that recognize the value of Solaria’s intellectual property rights; we have licensed Solaria’s technology to other companies in the industry. However, when Canadian companies and other foreign companies ignore US patents and infringe our core intellectual property rights, Solaria will Actively defend our intellectual property rights from any infringers, and protect our technology for ourselves and our important partners."
